12.1.1. Diagnostics of a forward suspension bracket


It is convenient to carry out all works connected with technical inspection and with replacement of details of a suspension bracket on the elevator or a viewing ditch together with the assistant.
We check an inhaling of fastenings of all details of a forward suspension bracket, weakened connections we tighten.
Before check of side plays in a forward suspension bracket on the standing car hands vigorously we swing a wheel for the top part. In case of strong knocks we check an inhaling of bolts of fastening of a wheel.
If bolts are well tightened, then we hang out a wheel and …

… we shake it two hands in the vertical plane. We repeat check at the pressed brake pedal.

If at the pressed brake pedal the knock (side play) disappears, then its source – excessive gaps in hug bearings (see Adjustment of a gap in hug bearings of a forward wheel).
Spherical hinges can be the cause of possible knocks. Faulty it is possible to determine to the touch by a side play of a spherical finger. Such hinge is replaced.
We replace the deformed axis of the lower lever (it is noticeable even approximately).
If the angles of installation of wheels do not give in to adjustment – deformations of a body are possible, mudguard racks "are filled up", longerons and a cross-piece are bent. We recommend to check body "geometry" for HUNDRED and if necessary to replace a cross-piece.

We check a condition of rubber-metal hinges in the following order:

  • we hang out forward wheels of the car and we are convinced of lack of deformation of elements (see above);
  • radial shift of a persistent washer of rather external end face of the external plug of the rubber-metal hinge should not exceed 2,5 mm;
  • the distance between a persistent washer and an external end face of the external plug of the hinge has to be 3–7,5 mm for the lower and 1,5–5 mm for top levers.

Rubber-metal hinges are subject to replacement at gaps and unilateral wear of rubber.
We check a condition of the lower spherical hinges in the following order:

  • having removed a wheel, we substitute strong, steady wooden whetstone 280 mm high under a nave and we lower on it the car. For safety we enclose the removed wheel under a car threshold. We turn out a conic stopper from the lower spherical hinge;
  • we measure a caliper depth gage distance from an external part of a cover of the hinge to a spherical head of a finger (for descriptive reasons the stabilizer is removed). If this distance more than 11,8 mm, the hinge is replaced.

We check a condition of antisplash covers of hinges. Hinges with the torn covers are replaced assembled.
On the new spherical hinge we turn or we reject in different directions a spherical finger. The side play, a free wheeling of a finger or its strong jamming are inadmissible.
Carefully we examine suspension bracket springs. The sunk springs, and also with other damages – we replace new.
We replace the deformed or worn-out bar of the stabilizer. At wear of pillows of fastening of a bar of a suspension bracket – we replace them new.
In fastenings of shock-absorbers there should not be side plays. We are convinced that the rubber-metal hinge in the lower eye of fastening has no wear – cracking, stratifications, etc., the bolt of its fastening is tightened. At emergence of strong smudges of working liquid on the shock-absorber case – we replace it new. It is recommended to replace both shock-absorbers at once.
It is possible to check serviceability of shock-absorbers on the standing car. We shake the car, having pressed several times a wing in the vertical direction. Having stopped swinging the car, we are convinced that free fluctuations of a body fade no more than for 2 cycles. Any knocks at the same time should not be.
