1. General information

VAZ-2106 and its modifications – five-seater cars with a forward arrangement of the engine and back driving wheels. A body – the bearing design, all-metal, welded. Body type – the sedan.

Engines – four-cylinder, line, four-cycle, petrol (VAZ-21061, VAZ-21065-01) with a working volume of 1,5 l or 1,6 l (VAZ-2106, VAZ-21065-00) and power (in accordance with GOST 14846) respectively 71,4 and 74,5 h.p.

The VAZ-2106 and VAZ-21061 cars are completed with four-speed transmissions. At the VAZ-21065-00 and VAZ-21065-01 cars the five-speed transmission and contactless system of ignition.

The design of cars as of September, 2001 is reflected in a practical part of the book.

The model and number of the car, engine model, weight data, number for spare parts, options of execution and a complete set are specified in the summary plate of factory data.

The second line from above contains a mark of conformity and number of approval like the vehicle.

The third line in the plate – identification number – is deciphered as follows: the first three symbols according to the international standards designate a code of manufacturer; six following figures – car model; a letter of the Latin alphabet (or figure) – model year of release of the car; the last seven figures – number of the chassis, for the car corresponding to number of a body.

Figures in columns designate:

Е – full admissible mass of the car;
F – admissible weight with the trailer;

Number for spare parts corresponds to serial number of an exit of the car from the conveyor.

The model and number of the engine are beaten out on inflow of the block of cylinders to the left of the fuel pump.

Identification number is duplicated on the lower shelf of a box of airinflow and on a connector of the left arch of a back wheel.
