1.1. Safety measures

The room where repair work is carried out, has to be aired well, a door or gate – it is easy to open both from within, and outside.

Always you hold pass to an exit free.

During the operation of the engine (especially on the warming up modes) carbon oxide (SO) – poisonous gas without color and a smell is emitted. It is possible to get poisoned with carbon oxide (carbon monoxide) even in an open garage therefore before launch of the engine provide removal of the fulfilled gases out of garage limits. For example, a hose, having put on it an exhaust pipe. In the absence of a compulsory extract it is possible to launch the engine only for a short time. At the same time the system of release and its connection with a hose have to be tight!

At repair of a power supply system of the engine be careful: gasoline can get on a hot final collector and cause the fire. Do not turn on (and do not switch off) car electric devices if gasoline nearby spilled – the slipped spark (even at removal of the "minus" plug from the accumulator) can cause explosion.

During welding works you hold near at hand a bucket with water, the fire extinguisher (it is better carbon dioxide). Before it disconnect all electronic control units and the rechargeable battery from onboard network of the car, and "mass" contact of a welding wire have as it is possible closer to the place of welding. Track that current did not pass through mobile (bearings, spherical support) or threaded connections – they can be damaged.

At repair of chains of electric equipment or at risk of their damage (welding, a rikhtovka near plaits of wires) switch-off the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.

Serving contactless system of ignition, do not concern high-voltage wires on the working engine or at its start-up.

When checking system of ignition "on a spark" fix a high-voltage wire near "weight" by an insulating tape, a clothespeg, but you do not hold it with hands. If it is required to switch-off one of cylinders on the working engine, close the screw-driver or a piece of a suitable wire a high-voltage conclusion to "weight". At the same time at first reliably fix the shunting wire on "weight", and then you bring to a tip of a high-voltage wire (better not to touch it by hands).

If you prefer to disconnect for shutdown of cylinders high-voltage wires (and it can lead to a progar of isolation of the coil of ignition, the runner and a cover of the distributor), then it is better to disconnect them not from candles, and from the ignition distributor – the probability to receive blow by current is so much less.

That in operating time not to injure a hand, put on gloves (better leather). For protection of eyes put on special glasses with side guards.

Perform electrowelding works in dense clothes (better than tarpaulin), having clasped sleeves and a collar.

Whenever possible use rhombic or hydraulic jacks instead of regular – they are steadier and reliable. Do not use the faulty tool: rozhkovy keys with the "revealed" pharynx or the crumpled sponges, screw-drivers with the rounded, twisted shliyets or incorrectly ground, passatizh with badly fixed plastic handles, hammers with the unrecorded handle, etc.

Before raising of the car on a jack or the elevator be convinced that the corresponding power elements of a body (amplifiers of a floor, thresholds) are rather strong. Use only regular points of support for raising of the car. It is forbidden to hang out the car on two or more jacks – use serviceable supports of industrial production ("tripod") and a reliable emphasis under wheels.

It is forbidden to load or unload the car standing on a jack, to sit down in it, to remove or install the engine if under the car there are people. At car repairs with the removed engine or the bridge consider that the razvesovka on axes changed. When posting on a jack such car can fall. Work only at the flat nonslipping platform, under not hung out wheels enclose a reliable emphasis.

The oils which are especially fulfilled at regular contact with them promote developing of skin diseases, including oncological. At hit of oil on hands wipe them rags, and then wipe with special medicine for cleaning of hands (or sunflower oil) and wash up warm water with soap or means for washing of ware. It is impossible to wash hands with hot water since at the same time harmful substances easily get through skin. At hit on hands of gasoline, kerosene or diesel fuel wipe them pure rags, and then wash up with soap.

During the work with the rechargeable battery (electrolyte is almost always present also at its surface) surely put on glasses and protective clothes, including rubber gloves.

Electrolyte at hit on skin causes its reddening, burning. If electrolyte got on hands or into eyes, wash away it a large amount of cold water (it is impossible to wash with soap!), then hands should be washed up solution of baking soda or liquid ammonia.
Remember that sulfuric acid even in small concentration destroys organic fibers – protect clothes.

Cooling liquid (antifreeze) contains ethylene glycol which is poisonous at hit in an organism and (to a lesser extent) at contact with skin. At poisoning with antifreeze it is necessary to cause immediately vomiting, to wash out a stomach, and at a serious poisoning, having accepted salt laxative, to see a doctor. At hit on hands – to wash away a large amount of water with soap. The same treats also brake fluid.

Do not open a cooling system stopper on the hot engine.

Gasoline, diesel fuel, oils, brake fluid are almost not processed in the natural way. Brake fluid contains poisonous glycoleft air; oils – the fulfilled mineral and organic additives, soot, pitches, wear products. Lead accumulators, besides lead, contain the antimony and other elements forming the connections, highly toxic for live organisms, which are long remaining in the soil. Leave the fulfilled materials in points of utilization.
